Icelandic data centers - Geothermal Power, Free Cooling

New Icelandic data centre to be powered entirely by renewable geothermal and hydroelectic energy, and will be able to use fresh air cooling for virtually the entire year.

 While we are keen to keep our servers in the UK, it is interesting to read about renewably powered data centres elsewhere. In Iceland there are huge quantities of geothermal and hydro-electric energy available, making green data centres a viable option. But does this come at the expense of being more prone to seismic activity?
